Pasadena - hotel and dinner

Looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Pasadena near Old Town and fun moderate restaurant for dinner. Any thoughts on the Comfort Inn and Saga Motor Inn? Thanks for your help.

I'm no help with the hotels but what kind of food do you want? American, Mexican, Indian, California-style? Kids, adults?

I stayed at the Saga Motor Inn about 5 yrs. ago. It was roomy, comfortable, nice, as I recall. I think you'll be happy there. I ate at a place nearby that I walked to that was unmemorable. But thumbs up on the Saga.

For dinner we'll have our 13 year old daughter with us. We love Mexican, Indian, Californian, etc! We're open!

I'm just curious... what is "Californian food?" (I've lived here my whole life and didn't realize our food is considered worthy of it's own category!LOL!)

California Cuisine is lean, small portions so you don't get fat....presented with flair on the plate because in California looks are everything.....served by a waiter who wants to be an actor...and not available for takeout unless you order by cellphone and pick it up in a limousine.

In Pasadena....Courtyard by Marriott is a great choice if you can find a decent rate, you'd be walking distance to everything near Old Town and wouldn't have to worry about finding parking whenever you venture out to eat.

Comfort Inn is $71.00, Saga is $82.00 and Courtyard is $152.00
and on TravelAdvisor reviews
Comfort rates #3, Saga #4 and Courtyard gets horrible reviews! Go figure! and HELP!

Actually, Courtyard has 2 good reviews, and one negative from someone who says that the rooms are small but goes on to say that it is clean & nice.

On Tripadvisor, "Popularity" is based on number of reviews, not quality of the hotel really.

But, at half the price, Saga looks like an affordable choice...and it is a bit better location than the Comfort Inn. You might check for a "managers special" or lower AAA rate at Courtyard however. There's also a Hilton and a Westin nearby that sometimes have special rates on expedia.com

lovetotravel2-

FWIW, I stayed at the Hilton in Pasadena in June 04. I got it through Priceline for $75/night. It was a very pleasant (and uneventful) stay.
