Houston - Late Night Dessert

I've already thought of House of Pies and the Chocolate Bar. Does anyone have a recommendation for dessert after a concert downtown?

You might try Artista - it's a Cordua Brothers restaurant; we ate there before we went to see Wicked. The food was quite good, and it has beautiful big windows with a view of the Houston skyline. We stayed at The Lancaster - a charming historic hotel, and it has a restaurant called Bistro Lancaster that looked like it would have great desserts or maybe try Clive's. It depends on how late your concert will let out. I'm guessing that most of these places close around 11:00 p.m.

Oh, I'm in love. I just read the desserts at Artista. I'm ready to go now! Is it appropriate to go there for dessert only?

We went for our anniversary, so we did the whole thing - drinks, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. I wouldn't think they would have a problem with your ordering just dessert, but you could call and check. We thought it was a cool place. It's kind of hip, while The Lancaster if more old school. Regarding Clive's, I think it may have gone out of business since I was last there. If it interests you, the Hyatt has The Spindletop - one of those in-the-round restaurants on top of the hotel with panoramic views of the city. I haven't been there for years, so can't vouch for the food.

Of all of them, I think Artista is your best bet. We came away feeling like we had really indulged ourselves and liked everything we had. Don't know if you're familiar with the Cordua brothers, but they have retaurants all over the city, and they know their stuff. Have a great time.

Darn! I just called Artista and they are reserved for the entire evening by a private party. I should have asked if it were by the muscial group (The Police) that we are going to see. I will definitely have to go there in the next few weeks. I know my chocoholic self will be dreaming of their menu!

Well, drat - maybe if you promise to be good, Sting will let you tag along! It's a big place, so that must be some party.

You might want to try Ibiza or Sambuca. I haven't been to Sambuca personally - if you're not familiar with it, they play live jazz music. Hope you can make it to Artista one day though. If I think of any other places, I'll be sure to post.
