Palm Springs to Sedona
After visiting Palm Springs for a few days, we're going to Sedona. Is it best to stay on the main freeways (from the map it looks like 10 and 17), or are there any secondary roads worth a detour for scenery etc.
Also, need a suggestion. Should we stay 5 days in Sedona or instead cap the trip off with 2 days in warmer Scottsdale or Phoenix? (we'll be returning to colder Northeast).

Taking the 10 to the 60 to the 89 through Prescott and Jerome is a more scenic route. Personally, I like Jerome more than Sedona and I would spend more time there.
Note from Palm Springs to Sedona is only about 350 miles and it can be driven in 6 or 7 hours, thus you don't need to stop and spend the night anywhere in between unless you wish.
