Orlando Restaurants
We will be staying at the Gaylord property, need great restaurants that are not a million dollar cab ride from there. Read about the following in talk-Chuck's Steaks,California Grill, Crab House, Black Fin,Season 52, Emeril. Tchoup,Portifino, le Cog au Vin. Are any of these close to the Gaylord resort or other suggestions. Thanks

Chuck's Steaks and Crab House are not in the same category as the rest of the places you name. California Grill is wonderful, especially if you are seated at a window facing Cinderella's Castle. I hate Disney World but love that view. I was disappointed with Black Fin in Winter Park, which is many miles from Disney - don't know if there's another one near Gaylord. Emeril's and Tchoup Choup are very good. I didn;t like some of the Cajun and Creole spices at Emeril's. I haven't eaten anywhere at Portofino Resort that made me return. Le Coq au Vin is absolutely wonderful but is only two miles from downtown Orlando, which is several miles from Gaylord. It is absolutely wonderful, though.
I moved out of Orlando last year, so Le Coq au Vin may have expanded south to that area, but I doubt it. It's a little place.
If you want steak, go to Palm at the Hard Rock Hotel.

We had two "not good" experiences at Tchoup Tchoup- great decor, but mediocre food, and it is just a weird fusion they try to do and it just didn't work. First time we thought it was just an off night. Second time was the same. But we have had consistently excellent almost mind-blowing culinary and service experiences at Emeril's at City Walk. Very nice for a couple- not w/young kids.
If you want to go to Disney's Downtown Marketplace (the closest part of Disney property to Gaylord- 5 min can ride) try the Wolfgang Puck's there. The real Cafe, across from the big Virgin store (not the express place, which is on the far end of Downtown Disney). Really really good food. It surprised us the first time and has been good every time we have gone back. Very lively place too.
California Grill is overrated IMO. Crowded, noisy, mediocre food, and too many kids- I didn't expect that in a $$$ restaurant restaurant.

The restaurants at the Gaylord Palms are very good - definitely check out the key lime pie tart at Villa de Flora. Outside of Gaylord Palms, check out Christini's - definitely make reservations: http://www.christinis.com/
