It is so GREAT to see this thread getting longer and see so many people who love Opera.

The Met Hall is one of the most beautiful and it will be a treat in itself to be there.

Also you might want to get a glass of champagne between acts, adds to the ambiance of the evening.

We always dress for the Opera, just part of the evening.

If you are looking for an excellent restaurant in the Lincoln Center area, try Pomodoro, which is not far up Columbus on the east side of the avenue around 70th St. The make the best pasta and bread. One of our favorites in the city, especially when we are seeing something or performing at Lincoln Center (I have actually had the opportunity to sing at Avery Fisher several times).

Have a great time and as others have mentioned you will get hooked.

We are headed there this weekend. So I'll report back on Monday how it all went. Thanks to all for your assistance in preparing.

fishingirl: Sorry I don't know the cost of the binoc rental. You could easily e-mail the MET and ask, though. The url is above. Of course you can bring whatever sized binocs you'd like! For me, it is a matter of not wanting a heavy bulky handbag, so I have a pair I bought years ago at the MET shop that I bring. No rules on this; do what works for you! And, center balcony should be terrific seats.

bennnie: Have a fabulous time at the MET this weekend & report back all the details!
