One night in Anchorage!!

Hi - rounding up a cruise, we have a day and 1 night to spend in Anchorage before heading home. Any suggestions on a great local hotel? Would also be fun to wrap up the trip at a restaurant/bar with local color and personality!

Thanks!

We stayed at the Anchorage Marriott and it was lovely - practically brand new and even had an indoor swimming pool.

Our favorite restaurant was the Glacier Brewhouse in downtown Anchorage, but the Moose's Tooth pizza place had the most local color!

You don't mention any dates, be aware that hotels get filled up very quickly in the summer up there. I've been up there on business & stayed at Capt Cook, expensive but good. All the cruise ship passengers milling about made breakfast too long for one not on vacation ! A couple of restaurants I liked (1997 vintage) were Simon & Seaforts (has great view over the water) near Cap't Cook, and, more local with good food and atmosphere, Club Paris on 5th Ave.
If you get a chance, consider one of the day cruises on Prince William Sound; I took the Klondike Express out of Whittier, it was a fabulous day out.
Have fun

Definitely the Captain Cook Hotel. It's beautiful, and the service was phenomenal.

These hotels are all downtown and would be nice:
Marriott
Hilton
Sheraton
Clarion Suites
Hampton Inn
Westmark
Captain Cook
The Captain Cook is almost always the best. Prices are pretty high but a really nice hotel. All downtown hotels will have pretty high summer rates.
Restaurants:
I would suggest the Club Paris, Glacier Brewhouse, Simon and Seaforts, or Sullivan's Steakhouse. All are good and are downtown within walking distance, so no need to rent a car. The Club Paris is very small and you will need reservations but it has the most local flavor of the above restaurants and is said to have the best steaks in town. The Glacier Brewhouse is a great all around restaurant, just down the street from Captain Cook and across the street from the Westmark. Simon and Seaforts has a nice view but I haven't eaten there in a few years. Used to be very good. Sullivans is a nice steakhouse and has a great piano bar that serves killer martinis.
Do walk around downtown Anchorage and see the summer flowers. If you are in Anchorage on a Saturday, go to the Saturday market near the Hilton Hotel. Lots of food, crafts etc...Lots of fun and great for souvenirs. Enjoy Anchorage!

I got on Anchorage B&B website and called around. There are many nice properties. You are best calling . Many you have to email to see if they have availability. "By the Creek"B&B has never responded to me and it has been three days. I have phoned (answering machines!!!!) left messages, emailed. So don't call them. I have reservations at Alaska Cozy Accommodations downtown. They were very helpful and very nice.
