one day & night in Frisco
I will have about 5 hours in an afternoon and then the whole evening (punctuated by a meeting) in SF (dont you locals call it Frisco?). Any suggestions for sights to see or places to go? So far Chinatown sounds like a good idea. How about moderately cheap restaurants that provide a good valu and atmosphere. Can I do this from a hotel near the airport? Whats the cheapest way to get to the sites from an airport hotel?

The airport is south of the city, about a 30 minute drive into the city. The cheapest way into SF from the airport would probably be public transportation. I believe there is a shuttle that connects the airport to the BART system. The SF public transit system is called MUNI. Check out their website. It should give you information on this.
And no, the locals do not call the city Frisco. In fact, it really annoys the locals when other people call it that and is probably the fastest way to alienate them. Just call it San Francisco or the city and you'll be fine.

Too bad Nestor, I tried to warn ya, now didn't I? You've wrecked this post for yourself. Might as well try again under a different heading...and name...if it's really information you want, that is.
And hey, don't go to Frisco, TX either. It's way too classy for dip sticks!

Dude...ixnay on the isco-fray.
Airport hotels are 20-30 minutes from downtown, so keep that in mind. check www.citysearch.com for restaurants of all price ranges approved by the locals. See all the tourist spots - the GG bridge, north beach, chinatown, coit tower, lombard street, alamo square...all that stuff. Should be in just about any tour book you pick up.

Thanks for the generic info., Frisco. I was hoping someone who knows the Frisco area could give me some advice about a great cheap restaurant but I guess they dont have any there. That must be why they have all the homeless dope addicts running around the streets of Frisco. Well, this post is apparently going nowhere because there are a bunch of hyper sensitive people who probably dont even live in Frisco, but somehere in New Jersey, that are offended when you call SF Frisco. Talk about anal retentive. Why dont you all go to analretentive.com and start a new chat room for city name pronunciations. You can start with "Louisville."
