Old Town San Diego Restaurants

A colleague of mine and I are headed to San Diego in a couple of days for a conference. We are staying close to Old Town. Can anyone suggest good places to eat for dinner in /near Old Town? We have a car and are open to any food type. Thanks for your help.

El Agave in Old Town is sooooooo good!!! It really has everything going for it. Service is excellent, food is excellent, decor is excellent... and they make a mean hand-crafted margarita. They are, in addition to being a fabulous restaurant, a tequileria that features hundreds of different tequilas.

I had the sopecitos surtidos as a starter that were the best sopecitos I've ever had. The portions are sized just right, the ingredients are fresh, and the display is very imaginative. Above all, the food is just downright delicious.

I second cher cher's rec.

El Agave is the only Mexican restaurant in Old Town you'll catch me eating in.

For OTM (other than mexi ) consider Cafe Pacifica.

Casa de Pico and Casa de Bandini, are both excellent mexican restaurants. They have fun outdoor dining, great food, and very good margaritas!

Cafe Pacifica is wonderfully creative seafood--a bit more upscale. Isn't there a really good Chinese place on the same block?

I like Casa de Bandini for margaritas and fun. I personally think the best Mexican food in town, though, is at Eva's, across from Kaiser Hospital in Mission Valley.

There is a Mexican restaurant with a big terrace in a complex past the Old Town Historic Site. The food is good--not fabulous--but the atmosphere is very pleasing.
