OFF Broadway Recommendations???
Heading to NYC next week. Any feedback on the following?
Carrie
Freud's Last Session
Jacques Brel Returns
Fuerzo Bruta (sp?)
Any other suggestions?
The only B'way shows I'm interested in are War Horse and Book of Mormon. Will see if War Horse is available at TKTS--and will try the lottery and waiting for SRO for Book of Mormon.

Pick up a copy of New York Magazine and in the back section is a brief synopsis of all shows, on and off Broadway, including show times, costs, theater locations, etc.
You should have no problem getting tickets to War Horse. Book of Mormon? That's another story!
Enjoy your visit.

Peter and the Starcatcher is arriving on Broadway from Off Broadway. It was wonderful. Don't miss it. Freud's Last Session is great. I haven't seen Silence the Musical but everyone who has loves it.
Enjoy!

Thanks. "Peter ..." starts previews two nights before my trip ends. I'm a little nervous about seeing it so early--before the kinks get worked out--but it is on my list. From what I read about it, it doesn't appeal to me at all--but I've heard nothing but raves--so I'm game ;-).

Hi, Songdoc.
This play started off-b'way at Playwright's Horizon and is being put up on B'way. Quite wonderful... maybe discounted preview tickets can be found?

Hi ChgoGal--
Thanks. Clybourne Park looks really good. A Pulitzer Prize is always a good recommendation Will probably only have time for three shows. Might depend on what's available at TKTS. I'd guess the two shows in preview will be available.

My husband and I saw the original Jacques Brel off broadway a few years ago and loved it. Some of the orignal cast is in the new version, so I would think this one is as good. I hope you give it a try and let us know what you think of it.

Well I guess my time rememberance isn't what it used to be. In any case, I know that some of the cast from the "original" are in the current version.
One thing I should add, unless you are into Jacques Brell music, you may not find this play to be your cup of tea.
