ocean front Cape Cod
Hi,
I would like to spend 3 nights, mid week, on the Cape.
I will have my 13 year old daughter and her friend.
I would like some "alone" time. They want to be busy...
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Chatham is a wonderful town.. very kid friendly with a great Main Street where teens like to spend their alone time too! Candy Manor, quaint shops...The Chatham Bars is $$$but a real treat. The Hawthorne Inn right on the water and covenient to everything. Mid week is perfect you will avoid the traffic. Have fun

If you want a place right on the water with lots to do, try the Blue Water hotel in Yarmouth. This is a somewhat expensive beachfront motel on the sound (warm water!) that offers jet ski rentals, banana boat rides, para sailing, water trampolines, pool, etc.
If you want more sedate, Wellfleet and Chatham are beautiful towns. There are three kinds of beaches on the Cape:
Nantucket Sound - warm, safe, crowded.
Cape Cod Bay - Vast shallow flats, lots of shells, crabs, etc. Cooler water.
Atlantic (National Seashore) - unspoiled, very scenic, cold water, surf.

Can't beat Susannah's ideal Chatham vacation but here are two other Plan B oceanfront resorts similar to the Blue Water and Lighthouse Inn.
Red Jacket Beach in South Yarmouth and Soundings in Dennisport. Both have indoor & outdoor pools, private beaches and many other activities.

Both resorts may still be or at one time were owned by the same company, I believe. In any case the Red Jacket was and still is bigger, and better with more amenities.
Red Jacket is more of a resort as I recall. On their beach and outdoor pool there is wait service for drinks and food. There is a restaurant and pub on premises on site as well as many options for rooms including: Oceanfront, Oceanview, Poolside and Riverview.
Red Jacket offers much more than the Blue Water but their rates are higher.

Here's another recommendation for the Lighthouse Inn, though there are many additional recomendations, all about, in "Cape Cod, An Explorer's Guide", well worth perusing. Included are dozens of those not mentioned herein or elsewhere on the web wonderful, resonably price, places to stay.

Haven't seen the Red jacket, but we checked out the Blue Water while strolling on the beach. It has a nice patio/bar/pool area right on the beach, plus a nice warm water beach.Jet boats, banana boats, and a water trampoline were available right on the beach (not free!). Because it's on the sound, the water is calm, but sometimes a litte seaweedy. I didn't see the rooms, but it looked like a fun place to bring kids.
