Ocean City MD to New Jersey

Hello! I'm a week away from a vacation in Baltimore, DC and finally Ocean City MD. In planning my routes, it looks like I have 2 options in getting home to NJ from Ocean City--either making my way to the Cape May Ferry (not desired) or traveling up Route 1 through Maryland and Delaware till it merges with 95 in Delaware. Does anyone have any experience with the Route 1 route? This is the one recommended by Mapquest. In looking at a map, it appears to hug the coastline and I'm concerned with getting stuck in stop and go traffic all the way home. If this isn't a good route, is anyone aware of a better one?

Thanks!

No, do not take Rt 1 from Ocean City. You'll hit a lot of stop/go traffic. Jog over to 113 which will drop you into Rt 1 just South of Dover. Then it's a toll road and moves really fast.

When Rt 1 cuts off to Rt 95 just south of New Castle, keep straight, and it will turn into Rt 13, which will lead you right into the Del Mem Bridge. Follow the signs to Rt 295.

That small stretch of Rt 95 from Christiana to Rt 295 can get very very conjested, especially on a Sunday afternoon.

This great, thanks Budman! It looks like the best way to get to 113 is to take the Ocean City Expressway/90 to 113 North. Does this sound right? Again, thanks for your assistance.
