obxgirl - Is this true???

obxgirl - I was wondering if you know if Fisherman's Wharf in Wanchese is closed? My parents went to it the other night and they said there was a sign on the door that said they were re-opening in March (!), but that the place looked deserted. I hope not - we have been going to that restaurant for years (decades?). That would be a tragedy second only to when Capt. Davies closed - do you remember that place?

wli, I can't tell you about that place in particular but a lot of popular restaurants will close for the off season or during slow times.

They are listed in the current 2005 Outer Banks Visitor's Guide for the upcoming summer season.
But I wonder why they aren't open yet. Most places are open and getting ready for Memorial Day weekend. You could call the OBX Chamber of Commerce or email them (I've done that for other questions like this), maybe they will know something.

wliwl, I'll be there next week and will investigate if you haven't reported back that all is ok. Hope nothing happened to the family.

I do recall Capt Davies. Definitely one of the good ones. Sounds like we could trade stories!

We still talk about Capt Davies all the time! For some cheap price you got this whole big basket of spicy steamed shrimp and hush puppies. It was so good. Then we went one year and they were out of business (probably wasn't making any money - Ha). We first started going to OBX in the mid 1970's. Of course it was WAY different then. It had the dirt road to Corola, and the ONLY thing in Corola was a post office and a Wee Winks. It was so beautiful then. I can barely recognize it now (sigh). But, it's still fun.
