There are lots of options along Lexington ave. from 42-~ 54 st. -diners, coffee shops, sandwich shops etc.
Ess-A-Bagel on 3rd & 51 is great but serve yourself cafeteria style.
For an upscale b/f, the Brasserie at 53 st b/w Lex and Park is nice. Oscar's in the Waldorf Astoria is almost across from your hotel.

If you are looking for a diner-type place, try the Midtwon Restaurant on 55th St, between 3rd & Lexington Ave. Very good breakfasts, reasonably priced.

How about one of the le Pain Quotidiens? There isn't one super close to your hotel, but maybe there is one that is close to where you will be heading one morning. Check out this website: www.lepainquotidien.com it's one of my favorite places for breakfast and there are several in NYC. Use the "Store locator" on the bottom rignt of the website for a list of the NYC addresses.
