NY Restaurant choice - Dinner and Breakfast?

Hi,

I will be staying at the Courtyard on 3rd and 53rd in July. Looking for somewhere nearby for dinner and then breakfast the following morning. We like to eat fist or pasta, so is there good that we could walk to? We can take a cab, but it would be nice to be able to walk. And then anywhere local for breakfast the following morning?

Thanks, Laura

We used to live at 51st and 2nd and there was a great little restaurant on 2nd Ave near that corner called Pescatore - specializing in fish Mediterranean style and pasta. Relatively affordable for NYC - I liked the grilled calamari there. You can definitely walk from the Courtyard.

Ess-A-Bagel for the best bagels in NYC.

If you like mussels, there's a bistro on 54 st & 1st ave. called Jubilee that's very good. There are quite a few high end Italians in the east 50's but they're quite pricey. Teodora on 57 st. is very nice.

Ess-A-Bagel is a NYC classic and only a block or so away, but it's cafeteria style serve yourself. They do have eggs etc. cooked to order. If your folks don't like bagels, there's a regular coffee shop place on 55th b/w 3rd & Lexington that's good.

Thanks for the recommendations. We'll have extra time in the morning - is there anywhere that is a bit special for breakfast?

Thanks, Laura

My friend who lived in that area also too me to Pescatore, and I really enjoyed it. You don't mention what days you're there, but La Mangeoire at 2nd and 53rd has a nice Sunday brunch.

Sorry, it's a Wednesday, so no Sunday brunch!

I can't think of any place in that area really special for breakfast apart from maybe one of the hotels like the Four Seasons or the Waldorf. You could get in a taxi though and go anywhere. Balthazar in Soho is nice.
