We will be driving into NYC this Saturday. Wondering if anyone had any recommendations for parking in the Central Park South area (near the Pierre) or near the Sofitel since some of our party is staying in each hotel. We need parking for 24 hrs. The cost of parking at the hotel is $50, so we are trying to find a lot that would have a better rate than that. Thanks in advance.

If you are staying in a hotel, often you can self-park the car in the same garage the hotel uses for considerably less.

Otherwise, check the Icon website. My husband drops me and the bags off at the hotel, then parks the car. I check in and call him on the cell phone with the room number. Leaving, I head for the front desk (if necessary) with the bags while he goes after the car.

Sometimes, we check out and store the bags with the hotel. We've never had a problem driving up to the hotel and collecting the bags later.

There is a garage on 58th st. b/w Fifth & Madison that would be very near the Pierre. Don't know about price. Icon has one on 59th b/w Fifth & Madison and quotes $61!

There's at least one garage and maybe more on the same street as the Sofitel (44th b/w 5th-6th) and that would probably be cheaper. On icon, I see a price of $17 at 51 st b/w 10th & 11th ,sort of between the 2 but very far west. You'd probably want to taxi to/from so don't know what the savings would be.

That's an expensive area for parking. And since the theater district is part of that area, Saturday parking will not be cheap.
As previously mentioned, you'll have go far west (i.e., 10th to 12th Avenues) for cheaper rates.
