NYC on 4/20
Hi!
This is a long shot, but... Are there any free or cheap concerts of any sort that high school students would enjoy the evening of Wednesday, April 20th? Ideally something in Soho, Chinatown, or Little Italy would work best.
Thanks in advance for any inside tips!

You might check some websites like
nycvisit.com (they have a calendar of events)
nymetro.com is the NY Magazine website
timeoutny.com
There are jazz places with small covers. Look at bigapplejazz.com
What sort of music are you looking for?

Thanks, McLaurie, I'll check those sights.
Any sort of music that would expose a large group (probably a couple dozen) to a new or interesting experience. Even something like a poetry reading or modern dance recital would be great.
I read a post by Patrick on another thread that said some of the orchestras (such as Philharmonic) have open rehearsals. Does anyone have info on those?

A couple of dozen??? If you are coming with a group of students that large, you should probably make some contact in advance. While I've never been to the rehearsal Patrick mentions, I can almost guarantee it would be during the day. There are some special "meet the artist" programs at Lincoln Center but none on your date. Here is the URL for the calendar

Perhaps if you posted what exactly you're trying to do, we could help.

The trip is pretty well planned (with NYC escort). Just trying to help the chaperones fill in a gap for that late afternoon/early evening. They could also swap out for Thursday morning the 21st. (Put what's currently planned to Wed eve.) Thanks.

Late afternoon/early evening???
Here's a list of inexpensive places to hear music, a lot are downtown but they 're all bars.
