NYC in January with kid/Bronx zoo?

Hi
I will be in NYC next January along to my 10 years old daughter. Since she loves animals do you think it is a good idea to take her to Bronx zoo?

Thank you

No, I don't think it's a good idea. It's a long trek and will be very cold. If you insist on a zoo, take her to Central Park. You can see the polar bears and sea lions there, as well as a few other animals.

Our of boredom, we once went to the zoo in January. The animals were certainly much smarter than we were - they never came out!

The Bronx Zoo is a fantastic institution - with a variety of wonderful habitats, rides, educational programs etc.

BUT - not in January. Too cold for you probably - as well as many of the animals - and a trek from Manhattan.

If you get a day when it's relatively warm do the Central Park zoo.

Since the Bronx Zoo is spread out across many acres, a visitor can't avoid walking long distanes outdoors from area to area--unpleasant in January. Central Park Zoo is much more compact, but still has quality indoor and outdoor exhibit areas that should interest you and your daughter for an hour or two.
