Would you consider Williamsburg? Lots of stuff to do between Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center. And if you get overloaded on history, then there's Busch Gardens and Water Country.

As for a hotel with a great pool, a new hotel just opened there called the Great Wolf Lodge that has an indoor water park and an extensive pool outside. Haven't stayed there but recent reports on this board have been favorable. When we go to Williamsburg, we stay at Kingsmill Resort. Great family place with golf, tennis, activities, indoor and outdoor pools (no slides), shuttles to the theme park. We going back for our second visit to Kingsmill - 4th time to Williamsburg.

Another option are the numerous hotels in Scottsdale area that feature extensive pools and slides. A trip there could also incorporate a side trip to the Grand Canyon.

I can only assume that you are completely open to the US of A?

Look into Wisconsin Dells. Arguably the best water parks in the country with some very nice hotel/resorts and a ton of touristy things to do.
