North Side of Oahu!!!!!

Okay Fodorites! We were in Maui & Kauai in October, and first timers to Hawaii. Just today I booked airfare for Oahu & BI for next September! Just can't get enough I guess! My question is where to stay on Oahu. I do not want to stay in Waikiki!! Looking at the North side somewhere? Flying into HNL, but then want to get out of there. Any recommendations as far as VRBO?? I'm open to all suggestions, just looking for someplace decent. The more private the better. My wife is hoping for a nice VRBO with a hot tub or a jet tub. We did the resort thing in October. Any advice would be helpful. Also, on the BI if you have any lodging preferences. Thanks for your help!!

Aloha tommyd,

I have looked at many of the homes listed by www.teamrealestate.com
many choices. I don't have experience w/ them as we always stay at Ke Iki BB.
No hot tub, but we love the location.

Happy planning...

Check out the Mokuleia Beach Colony. Here is a link to a rental that some posters have raved about.

Aloha again td,

I have heard wonderful reviews about the Ohana Keauhou Beach Resort on the BI... not very pricy w/ great snorkeling w/in walking distance... many have said it has been a "secret gem".

Have stayed in the NOrth shore of Oahu - love the area. It reminds me of Kauai - very tropical and soooo different from Honolulu. We stayed at Gigi's Paradise but I cann't recommend it. View was great but place needed a lot of work. We found it difficlut to find places on northshore area. Good luck and I would be interested in finding out where you stayed. Since flights are so much more reasonable to Oahu, and not to long a flight from CA, it is nice to jet over for a long weekend and I would go back to the northshore area.

VRBO - some people have good luck with those. I used it twice and both times, the places were not up to par. One we had to leave because it wasn't clean, etc.

Have a great trip. Report back about where you stay on north shore Oahu.

Tommyd, I don't know what your budget is, but we rented this house right on Sunset Beach, north shore of Oahu last August with another couple. It was just perfect, much better than the photos show. Now there is even a brand new pool table in the great room! We loved sitting on the porch and watching the sunsets. Here's the site:

Have a great time and happy hunting!

We rented a house on Sunset Beach/Rocky Point through teamrealestate.com. They have a number of properties on the North Shore.
