oahu house rentals - north shore and waimanalo
we are looking for a house rental in oahu in June 2008. A friend recommended waimanaolo beach cottages. We were thinking of staying there few 3 nights since its drive-able to honolulu and close to hanauma bay. Then go over to the north shore for 4 nights. We are looking at a house called bali-ho in the waialua / mokuleia area. Does anyone have any experience with either of these rentals or areas? We will have 4 adults and 8 kids of various ages. THe kids will want to have some beach fun, and I am a little worried about the waialua area being too dead. Any good snorkling / boogie boarding here in June? How about the wind? The parents will like relaxing on the beach. Should we look for something in the sunset beach area? We want to do sharks cover snorkling, polynesian cultural center, etc.

Waimanalo is a decent area. So is Sunset Beach area on North Shore.
Lots of car break-ins on the beaches in Waialua/Mokuleia area.
You may have a problem getting any house rental for 3 or 4 days. Most places want 5 days or more.
Oahu is not that big, so no matter where you are, you can easily get around.
Lots of Oahu info:

Aloha brollend... I've stayed in Mokuleia twice... LOVE LOVE the area. Very close to Haleiwa... a short drive to da nor shore beaches... I like quiet, so it works for me. With all the kids, you'll be trekking all over anyway... looking for the best swells for boarding... the surf will be bigger in Waikiki in summer... snorkeling will be great off Mokuleia Beach and the north shore beaches in summer.
Do you have a link for Bali-ho? or an address?

We just rented a house in Haleiwa for a week in April. The rental is the first floor and the owners lived on the second floor. Nice, secluded, and and only a few minutes from Haleiwa. The house is on vrbo at http://www.vrbo.com/24273
