North Myrtle Beach restaurant ideas for 4 families?
15 of us are headed to N. Myrtle Beach next weekend. We are staying at the Ocean Drive Golf Resort. Does anybody have restaurant suggestions(7 of us are kids) We are not buffet people, but will probably avoid very fine dining do to the kids. Any reasonably priced ideas? We thought we would go to broadway on the beach on tuesday night for the fireworks, but other than that no plans. Thanks for any help!

I agree with tip for Calabash but I will add... Do not stop on the main highway. Drive off towards the water and go as far back as you can get. You will find the small family run restaurants instead of the big Neon Sign corporation restaurants. A few of the small ones still have Dad fishing all day and Mom and the family cooking and serving at night.
The entire main strip from N Myrtle to Garden City is lined with restaurants from the buffets to McDonalds, Pancake Houses, all the big chains (Outback, TGI Fridays etc, etc). You will recognize most, watch for the locals and follow their leads.
I also like Murrels Inlet for seafood but it is much farther for you than Calabash if you are staying at North Myrtle.
Have a great trip!!

scooter11, I agree with the others about going to Calabash. Our favorite is The Seafood Hut, but you usually have to stand in line for a very long time...can't put your name on a list and come back.
The kids(grown ones) like Dockside..DH and I also like Coleman's ...We have been to Etta's and Beck's and both are good. The only one that really didn't float our boat was Captain Nance's..but could have been our timeing!
Since you are right down at OD, there is a great meat and 3 on Main Street called Hoskins. Wonderful plate lunches. There is also a seafood place at OD also on main street..not sure if it is Duffy's or not..but there is definitely a Duffy's Seafood Shack down at Cherry Grove across from Beaulineau's.
Have fun!

My husband's uncle and aunt live in North Myrtle Beach. Their favorite place for BBQ is "Little Pigs BBQ", 6102 Frontage Road in Myrtle Beach. Extremely plain, NOT fancy by any means, and cash only, very popular with locals, one of the top 4 BBQ places in a local newspaper poll. Barefoot Landing is an open air mall in North Myrtle Beach, there are quite a few good restaurants there. Next to Barefoot Landing is Alligator Adventure, that might be a fun afternoon. www.alligatoradventure.com
Your group would also probably enjoy the Ripley's Aquarium at Broadway on the Beach. Another great place is Brookgreen Gardens, a short drive south on 17 to Pawley's island. they have sculpture gardens and also a nature program with upclose interactions with small animals. www.brookgreen.com

Dan is correct. Hoskins will be straight down the street from where you are staying. It is one of my favorites(I live here), inexpensive and good food. We also have a K and W that gives choices for all. Calabash is good with a variety of restaurants as suggested, but a drive of about20 miles. Duffys is also in the next block from where you are.
Enjoy our area. It is very busy at this time of year.
