NJ Turnpike traffic/Sun./NYC Marathon

We must attend a memorial service Sun. afternoon in Cranford, NJ. Our driving route is from the Phila. area. Realizing Sun. is NYC Marathon, am wondering what to expect on NJ Turnpike. Does anyone know if afternoon traffic would be horrible? Thank you.

elaine - You will most likely be getting off the turnpike and onto the Garden State Parkway long before any NYC traffic will effect you.

xxx,
thank you kindly for your traffic information. I thought we would be exiting NJ Turnpike somewhere near Metucheon exit...we've never visited Cranford. I really appreciate your reply.

elaine-
You should probably exit the turnpike at exit 11 and get on the Garden State Parkway to exit 136 or 137 depending on what part of Cranford you are headed to.

New Jersey is not affected by the NEW YORK CITY Marathon in anyway. I would be more worried with a football game out at the Meadowlands. That snarls the traffic.

FYI the winner of the Marathon usally crosses the finish line in Central Park before 1:30. I live on the route in NYC and almost all of the runners are thru by 4-5 pm
