Sorry - cannot imagine why anyone would want to do a bus tour of NYC at night. There are so many great things to see/do/experience - why in god's name sit in a bus and have listen to some garbled account of a list of the the fronts of museums and office buildings.
Don;t know the party shuttle myself - but on another board read a recent complaint about a cancelled trip, being added to another group and a "guide" that didn't know much.

At night, it's great to go to the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center), to see the Empire State Building and the city all lit up below. I am not sure what time it closes, though, so check on that.
Maybe a Circle Line tour on the water, around Manhattan, at night?

Thanks for your view nytraveler. I can understand it is not very challenging sitting in a bus for a couple of hours but we will be there for 5 nights and are already booked to see 2 shows....hope to get some last minute tix to more. As we dont have a car, thought that might be the next best thing to see the night lights.... different angle from Top of the rock.

I can't think of much to see at night that would be better on a bus tour. You will be in the theater district, so you will see Times Square - pretty awesome.
Top of the Rock would be fun if it is open.
Perhaps a bus ride down to the Staten Island Ferry and take a Ferry ride over and back. You will see the Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn and Manhattan skylines - at least a good view of part of each.
Otherwise Manhattan is a lot of people walking around - or not - depending on where you are.
