Newark airport hotel

We need a hotel at the Newark airport for the end of our stay in Manhattan, because we have an early morning flight. The Wyndham gets good reviews, but it also sounds like it is very hard for taxi drivers to find. Any hotel in Newark that is a better option?

Wow! That's a first. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone deciding not to stay at a hotel because it was hard for taxi drivers to find!

Haven't stayed there, but we always park our car at the Airport Hilton when traveling out of Newark. They have free shuttle to the airport.

I'm not at all surprised. While almost all of the major chains have hotels around Newark Airport most of them, like the Wyndham, are on one of the many service roads surrounding the airport and while the hotels are easily visible from the highway they are not always easy to get to. The problem stems from the fact that Newark airport is at the intersection of the NJ Turnpike, I-78 and US Routes 1 and 9 plus a few other State and County roads that twist and wind around the airport. I've stayed at one hotel several times and still have trouble finding it because the access is different depending on your approach road. FYI - Marriott has a hotel right in the main terminal complex - you can't miss that one.

Wyndham Newark Airport hotel has a free shuttle to the airport. http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/EWRNJ/services/main.wnt

If you really want to take a taxi, you might consider asking all the taxi drivers in line if any knows where the hotel is. I can't imagine there won't be one who knows.

We stayed at the Best Western which was hard to find, and less than elegant. But it was a cheap sleep and long term parking.

Thanks. To clarify, I was talking about the taxi from NYC to the hotel. (I don't know if the meter keeps running or if it's a flat rate in that direction.) I realize that all the airport hotels have shuttles to the airport itself.

I've stayed twice at Airport Hilton. Altho they might no longer do it, they had free scheduled shuttles to/from Newark Penn Station ... well actually, the Hilton Gateway Inn across the street from the station. Airport Hilton was quiet with decent restaurant.

We ended up with the Four Points Sheraton at Newark Airport on a Priceline bid - reviews sound positively awful. Since it's just a night's stay before a 6 a.m. flight, should I bother to look elsewhere?
