New Password?

I just got email "confirming" my new password from fodors, which I didn't request. This is only a check to see if my real password works. Anyone else get this spam mail?

Me too. Which I immediately changed again. What do you think they could be gaining?

momtoboys2. It was only spam - I posted this question without altering my real password. I'm guessing that this was some kind of phishing expedition. Hopefully, you didn't provide them with any important information.

I got the same thing too.

I noticed that the old password was all lower case and the new one is lower and upper case.

Maybe Fodor's is going to a more secure password?

If so, they should have included a message saying so.

Duh--I got it too, and posted my own thread about it. Please ignore!
If it's phishing, what could they get?

"If it's phishing, what could they get?"

an open avenue into your computer.

Please don't open the email unless advised by Fodors that it's legit.

See the ongoing thread in the Lounge.

Hello all-

It has come to our attention that many members received an email earlier today containing their screen name and a "new" password.

Please ignore and delete these emails. Your passwords remain secure and have not changed. We are investigating the cause of this mailing and when we know more we'll certainly relay that information on to you.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Best,
Katie

An update: it turns out that this mailing was not the work of phishers as suspected by many of you.

An internal mail error automatically sent out those emails to those members who had EVER requested a new password in all of their time on the site. The "new" passwords are not connected to those accounts; please ignore and delete the email. You do not need to change your password.

So rest assured, all is fine and well. We apologize for the error and for the needless email.

Thanks for your patience in this matter.

Best,
Katie

I got it too. Assumed it was some sort of spam or phishing.
