New Orleans evening entertainment?

Any suggestions for places to go after dinner in New Orleans in the French Quarter? Good spots to listen to music or see a show? DH and I are going next week and on previous trips we always seem to wander aimlessly after we eat. It would be nice to have some actual destinations in mind.

Thanks!
Lisa

I like the Kerry Irish Pub on Decatur, snow. They usually have great bands playing, that are not limited to Irish only music. Very welcoming place, also.

Do you have to get to Preservation Hall early to get in? I've heard rumors of long waits and lines out the door. Thanks!

I have been in lines and I have seen lines but it's like a restaurant there is turnover--besides you can hear the music and the people watching is great!--And if you have your PO Hurricane in hand it's not a hardship (LOL)

The one thing I'm kicking myself about missing on my trip to NOLA is Preservation Hall. According to the web site, there are no reservations, no smoking, no drinking, so you better finish your hurricane before you get in. Have fun!

I know what you mean. We had planned on going last time but somehow didn't. Now it is the one thing dh say we absolutely have to do this time around.

During the week you are best to be in line 30 mins. ahead if you want a chance at a seat. Otherwise expect to stand and dive for seats vacated by people leaving. You can sit at the front in the side seats if you wish, many times I just walk up front to those, next to the drummer with looks from those standing who didn't realize they are available. On weekends, you will see the lines start about an hour before.

Oh those Hurricanes..I'm in my office and looking at two Hurricane glasses on a shelf by my desk. I'm sure I'd have great memories if I could just remember. I must have had at least two of them.
