New or Nice St Louis hotel?
I have been to STL many times, but not recently. I am going to Fenton and would like to be somewhere between the a/p and Fenton. I am not so concerned about the property type... but I want to stay somewhere new, if possible.
Any ideas?

There is an awful lot of distance b/t the airport and Fenton; by road that is about 40 miles. There has not been a lot of new hotel construction along the 270/44 corridor lately, most of the new ones are either downtown or in the Chesterfield valley (aka, the western reaches along Hwy.40, well away from where you need to be.) There are some new properties which mostly cater to the extended-stay business traveler in the Westport area (270 @ Page), but most of them are budget properties.
What sort of hotel are you looking for? Do you want an onsite restaurant, for instance? An indoor pool? Wireless internet access? Do you want closer to Fenton or closer to the airport? Also, how do you define "new"? Less than 5 yrs. old? 10? Within the last year?

Ryn 2691 is right; you're talking 30 to 40 miles of driving: depending where in Fenton you're talking about. Everything new hotel wise in St. louis is either downtown or Chesterfield. They might build something at I-270 and Manchester but that could be years away.
They are building (separately) a Hampton Inn and a Drury Inn in Fenton at the corner of MO Hwy 141 and I-44: but they won't be open until later this year or early 2004.

The only other option if you want to be in the middle between the airport and Fenton is to either stay at the Marriot or Courtyard in Town & Country. They just completed 141 so it's now 4 or 6 lanes with few stoplights all the way from Highway 40 to I-55.

Thanks for the info...
I am not concerned with the type of property or whether it has a restaurant, gym, room service. I just want something new, less than 2 years old.
I also don't care where it is as long as I can get to Fenton without to much hassle. I am headed to the Maritz campus.
How are the Embassy Suites in St Louis?
Any info is appreciated!

Technically, that Hampton is at Watson Rd. & Lindbergh; 44 & Lindbergh is a brand-new Walmart! The Hampton is about 1/2 mile South of Hwy. 44 on Lindbergh (it is new, it replaced the infamously-named Westward Ho Motel, which was razed.) There is also a large Holiday Inn across the street, but it is not new. That area does have a fair number of places to eat and shop, so it is a good base if you expect to have nights free. (The restaurants right around there are mostly chains; you would have to go elsewhere for local cuisine, for the most part, although the Fortel's Pizza in Kirkwood will deliver that far down!) Straight out I-44, that's about 15-20 minutes to Maritz. (Maritz and the Chrysler plant are the major employers in Fenton; if it is not shift-change time @Chrysler, traffic in the area is usually not bad, and you would be going against traffic on 44.)
