NEW HOPE + LAMBERTVILLE

i already posted, but i have more information now. so basically we are going to a wedding in novemebr at the Holly Hedge Estate (www.hollyhedge.com).which is at new hope PA.

we are out of towners from Toronto, so we need all the HELP you can give us.

1. can you sugggest a hotel/B&B in new hope or lambertville which is on the cheaper/affordable side of things.

2. what do you think its the best airport to flight to? from toronto canada. is it better to fly to Newwark as somebody suggested or fly to Philadelphia?

3. and now from the airport how can we go to New Hope/Lambertville? whats the bus name, do we need to buy our tickets in advanced? is there a phone number to call?

thanks alot guys, so now that i have more detailed information about where about the wedding is, can you suggest some few and affordable hotels/B&B?

thanks thanks again.

I have been to New Hope several times but don't think they have any motel/hotels most accommodations are B&B's. Newark airport would be better to fly into it's probably about 1 1/2 hour drive from there. You would have to rent a car to get to New Hope area there is no bus or train transportation. Another area you may want to look into to stay would be Lahaska PA. which is about 10 minutes from New Hope. I believe there is a Holiday Inn there so if you have a car it wouldn't be far to travel to New Hope. Let me know if I can help with more info.

I have to agree it will be difficult to find a cheap motel in that area. There are many b&bs along main street in New Hope. The Mansion is one of them you might check. Logan Inn is another. In Peddlers Village there is The Spotted Hog. There is also a remote quaint place called the Inn @ Phillips Mill outside on New Hope a few miles. A lovely place. Check tripadvisors.com but in all of the above you need a car. Now if those places are way to high you might want to try a Hampton Inn which is in Newtown/Yardley Pa. on the Pa. side which puts you about 20 minutes from the new hope Area.It has an easy access to 1-95 where you would get off and on to get to New Hope. If you have a car the commute there wouldn't be problematic. You will need a car. The Holly Hedge states you are about an hour from PHL. I would fly into where I could get the best rates. I am not sure if Newark or PHL airport is closer. It would seem to me it is about the same. There is also a Sheraton in Langhorne across the street from sesame place. These are about a 3o minutes ride to New Hope but it might be a bit less expensive. They are surrounding area ideas.

Hi!

Holly Hedge has a New Hope mailing address, but technically it's 2-3 miles north of New Hope. That makes your situation a bit of a challenge. This is a charming area however there are limited public transportation options for you from either airport.

Here's the schedule for Trans Bridge Bus that runs from Newark Airport with stops in Lambertville NJ and New Hope PA. http://www.transbridgebus.com/sched_frenchny.htm#west

You'll see there is limited weekend service. Depending on your choice of lodging, you may need someone to pick you up and drop you off between the bus stop and your hotel. Because this is a fairly rural area, taxi's may/may not be readily available, you would need to check with a hotel/motel/B&B when inquiring about lodging.

In addition, does the bus schedule jive with airline schedules? If by chance you miss a bus, would give some thought to options - is there a later bus or would you miss you plane?

As other posters have mentioned, a rental car may be a more expensive option but IMO it gives you greater flexibility and peace of mind.

Here's a pretty good web site for New Hope and Lambertville accomodations - see what fits your budget.

http://www.newhopepennsylvania.com/lodging.html

Bottom line - I'd research airfare options, Newark or Phila, hope to get a bargain airfare to save some $$ and go from there.

Good luck and enjoy the wedding and the area!

You really need to rent a car. i would check prices to philadelphia , car prices too and newark, philly may be a bit easier to get to and from but timing differences are not that great. My friend that lives in lahaska usually uses philly ariport for all travel. trains stop many miles south of lambertville. towns that may have inns around the area are new hope lahaska lambertville hopewell (this is farther out) even frenchtown (again farther north but a cute town that might have that feel you are looking for) good luck

chocho,

I was just looking at your other thread. You are traveling with a 1 year old child. In this case I am not sure how well a b&b will work for you. You will need a crib rental. I checked some prices for Nov. I am seeing $115 a night for the Sheraton in Langhorne. I would also check with the holly Hedge and ask them for some help since you are so coming from so far away. There may be something closer in the new hope surrounding areas that can help you find suitable lodging for your family.

thank you all for your reply to my post. i think we have decided to fly to philly; the bride to be promises to pick us up from the airport and from the inn at the lambertville (we decide to stay there). she said she has rented a shuttle bus and would want everybody to stay in the same area.
thanks again. now i will be pissed if the bride to be doesnt pick us up.
