New England Baseball
Some friends and I are going to be going to a few baseball games in the Boston area during the month of May. I was wondering if anyone knows of any transportation that's available between Boston and Pawtucket? We are staying in Boston but we wanted to take a quick trip over to Pawtucket to see the PawSox play. Are there shuttles that run back and forth between Boston and Pawtucket? Thanks for the help!!

I don't know of a shuttle, but there's also the Lowell Spinners in Lowell which is a commuter train from Boston. Don't know how close the station puts you to the field, but this is a lot of fun, too. I believe it's lowellspinners.com. For transportation to Lowell, try www.mbta.com. For the Paw Sox, try their web site.

Paw Sox - that's tough one. Not aware of any shuttle, and can't find anything on Pawsox's website. McCoy stadium is served by Rhode Island's RIPTA Bus #79 from Pawtucket center, but it is very infrequent, doesn't run on Sundays, etc... And you still have to get to Pawtucket. Bonanza Bus Line (the main bus coach company) doesn't even stop there between Providence and Boston.
So, you have to get to Providence by Amtrak or MBTA's commuter (which doesn't through to Providence on Sundays), and back track to Pawtucket. Or perhaps get to Attleboro by MBTA's commuter and then take a taxi across state line.
You may also want to call Red Sox's office and see if they have any better ideas. I think sometimes when they have a big star rehabitating at Pawsox, they may run some special bus to bring fans down there, but again, McCoy is not easy to get to.

Too bad, you are not coming down in late June, as Gail said, to see the Lowell Spinners. If you were here then you could boogey on down to Cape Cod to catch a CC Baseball league game.
These games are free and feature the best college baseball talent nationwide. The league and it's fields were featured in the recent baseball movie "Summer Catch".

Thanks for the information eveyone. Unfortunately May is about the only opportunity we have to take this trip, otherwise I would schedule it later so I could go see games in Lowell and Cape Cod. Oh well, looks like I'll have to make another trip next year.
In terms of transportation for this years trip, I guess I'll just have to rent a car. I haven't heard of anyone having a good time while driving in Boston, but I guess I'll just have to take my chances.
Thanks again!
