NeoPatrick, I need your help
Hi NP,
Can you tell me a bit about a place you recommended to someone -- I think it's called something like After Party? I want to suggest it to my sister in case she doesn't get show tickets.
Also, I know there's one of those singalong bars on B'way right near the Iridium -- Ellen's? Eileen's? Do you know it or a similar place?
I'd love your input here. I know I can search the many threads where you've suggested places but this just seems so much easier.
Thanks in advance!

It is called After Party and it is on Friday nights only starting at 11 PM. It's in the Laurie Beechman theatre which is a cabaret venue in the basement of the West Bank Cafe, 42nd Street just west of 9th Avenue on the north side of the street. They have a host and a guest host and a couple of guests, usually cast members from Broadway musicals. Then others can sign up to sing. It goes on most of the night. No cover and no minimum. Reasonably priced drinks, some food if you want. They pass a bucket for tips for the piano player (last time it was the musical director of Avenue Q). It's more fun than musical theatre freaks like me should legally be allowed to have!

Thanks so much. It sounds great but unfortunately they're only going to be in NY for Saturday, Sunday and, I think, Monday.
I'll keep this for myself though for next visit to NY.
Thanks again.

Hello,
With your name in the title, this is a good opportunity to thank you, NeoPatrick, for all you've done to help us plan our trip to New York.
After staying in Murray Hill and the financial district on past trips, we're looking forward to the Westin Times Square. It will be nice to come back from Gypsy and In the Heights without taking the subway. It will also be very convenient to the restaurants on 9th.
I'm really hoping to get the the After Party. Thank you for the specific directions.
We leave tomorrow morning. Woohoo!

You're welcome, eileenleft.
Goddesstogo, another thought. If they are there on Monday night, there is a somewhat similar evening at Birdland on Monday nights called Cast Party.
Here's a link:

Sadly I missed it one night in June when I heard the next day that Christine Ebersole and Liza Minnelli both showed up and each did several songs.
