need trip advice for a short trip from the East coast

I have a strage problem--I want to maintain my Elite status on Continental for this upcoming year. The problem is that I am currently about 1800 miles short of that status. Where can my husband and I go from Newark, NJ that would be 1800 miles roundtrip or thereabouts for a few days? We would like not to spend a fortune. Thanks for your help.

Isn't the Mississippi River about 900 miles from the east coast? Maybe try Minneapolis, St. Louis, Memphis or New Orleans?

Easy! go to San Diego. The weather is almost always sunny. You probably want to stay in the gaslamp or Old town areas. By day, relax by the pool or walk to a variety of places (the gaslamp has a lot to offer, and is safe)and enjoy the restaurants/bistro's/bars at night.

Debbie, tell me why is it important to you to maitain your Elite status? Did you get any special treatment or upgrades? How does it work for you? I mean not what Continental promises but what you actually got that makes you want to continue? We will have enough miles to become Silver Elite members after our trip to Hawaii in December

Myrtle Beach should do it if not Charleston, SC or Atlanta. Or Montreal

From Newrak to Montreal you will get only 500 miles or 1000 RT but if you go to Lake Placid you may fly to Saranac Lake via Albany and for each segment you get 500 miles which means you will get for your RT 2000 miles
