Need Hotel recommendations for Alabama/Tennessee game

Hi all!!

I may be getting tickets to the Alabama game on 10/20/07. It is not a sure thing yet, so I am trying not to get my hopes up. Just in case things fall into place, I would like to get some recommendations on a place to stay.

I am coming from CA. I am 32 years old and a huge Tide fan. I have never been to Alabama so I don't really know what to expect. Please help!

I would imagine that most places in Tuscaloosa are booked, so we may need to stay in Birmingham. Closer is better. I would like to stay somewhere nice. I plan on arriving Wed, sightseeing on Thurs and Fri, game Sat, fly home Sun.

Once I find out for sure I have the tickets, I'll ask for more recommendations such as restaurants and game day stuff. Fingers are crossed!!!

Thanks for your help!

At this late hour, I'd be making reservations anywhere I could find them in the Tuscaloosa or B'ham area.

I just typed in your dates for Holiday Inn Express - Irondale (which is VERY near the airport, thus where we stay when we fly out of B'ham) and it seemed to be taking it.

So Cackti, where did you end up booking?

Hi OSB!

First, thanks for your help!!

We have not been able to confirm receipt of the tickets yet. I don't want to book, then end up losing money when cancelling reservations.

What do you know of the Drury hotels in Birmingham/Hoover? Are they in nice areas for sightseeing and dining?

Hoover is a nice area of Birmingham. I have no experience with Drury, but on it's website it certainly sounds good enough for what you want - a decent place to crash after the game.

I took the liberty to copy & paste their cancellation policy from their website:
Cancellation Policy:
"Cancel By 6pm Day Of Arrival To Avoid 1 Night Room Charges"

So, it makes alot of sense to book it, & cancel later if the tickets don't come through.
