I am overwhelmed with the choices Vegas offers! This will be my first time there-staying with friends for the first 4 nights then in a hotel for the last two (3/25-3/26) We will be spending more time than usual in the hotel because we want to relax but still be close to the action when we want to go out. From what I read from you all, Monte Carlo is not a real popular choice. How come? Would I be better off at Treasure Island? I want a nice room, that is not like a room I can get at the Holiday Inn, with a nice pool area hopefully not runover with kids, so I guess I want to feel spoiled but don't want to spend over $350 for the 2 nights. It seems these are the only two hotels that are near the action and that fit into this price range. Am I wrong? Please advise if you can.

What about the Aladdin? We've stayed there several times and loved it!! Location is perfect.The rooms are nice with huge marble bathrooms. You can even request a room facing the fountains at Bellagio. I'd give the hotel a call to see about the rates. Or you can check travelworm.com to see what they offer.

I've had some friends stay at Treasure Island and they like that hotel too. I've never stayed there. Been inside the hotel looks very nice also.

Thanks for the reply! I have looked at the Aladdin and I really like the pool area. Is it too family oriented though? I'm a teacher and this is my Spring Break so I'd rather stay away from kids if I can help it. Not sure if that's possible though! I can get a room for just over $350, but I could also get a suite for less than that at Treasure Island, so that is why it's in the running.

The Aladdin is not especially family friendly and it is supposed to be very nice. I have heard mostly good things about the Monte Carlo. They're supposed to have a nice pool/lazy river area.

I like the Monte Carlo. It is not as busy and overwhelming as other hotels. We are experimenting with other hotels but think that for a couple it is a very good choice.

Another good choice might be the Mirage-right next to TI but less kids and even though it is older-I think the rooms and grounds are really lovely and more "grown-up" looking.

Just back from Treasure Island in October. We had a suite and the rest of our group had regular rooms - wonderful on both counts!

As for kids, as of October 15th Treasure Island (TI) no longer accepts guests under 18. Nice pool.

TI is a great location for a first timer...you can walk to several good restaurants. Can't really go wrong at the Aladdin either but if the TI is offering a suite...go for it!

Check directly with the hotel however, since the pool is so important to you. Some pools are closed in March and even if open, might be down for repairs - its'a popular month for pool renovations.

I got the "Idiots Guide to Las Vegas" three years? ago, and have shared it with others. 5 trips in all, each one using one or more of the restaurants, hotels, or attractions listed. It is a bit out-of-date (Las Vegas changes weekly.)
I must say that Bally's was centrally located, a standard hotel room, but I got lucky and had a spot to watch the Bellagio fountains. Upgrades always possible. Have heard that the Aladdin would be a good choice as well. I am heading there again in April, looking into TI, Venetian, Aladdin, Manadaly Bay. With the new Monorail, all the Strip is accessible, with a bit of patience.

i might suggest Caesar's. a room at the palace tower. the pool is top notch and there is a "european" pool area where kids are really not welcome (it's topless). plus the casino itself is not geared toward kids at all (save for the forum shops). my vote would be caesars.

I would suggest a central location in the area of Paris/Bally/Bellagio etc.
You can walk just about anywhere from these properties and the choices for food in this area are overwhelming. I have stayed at the
Orleans (off strip and excellent value with shuttles running to strip every 15 min);
Paris (for a convention..loved the room overlooking the Bellagio fountains and the mimes didn't bother me a bit! Get in the spirit after all you are in Vegas);
Flamingo (pool is very nice and the remodeled rooms overlooking the pool were great..food not great tho);
and the Gold Coast a sister to Orleans.

I liked the Paris best of all. It was a smaller venue and the walk to your room wasn't a one mile hike like some of the other places. I enjoyed the restaurants there, the pastries are to die for as it the bread.
Casino not great in any of the Bally/Flamingo/Paris/Caesar casinos but I went to Bellagio where I always win. The pool area is a drawback at the Paris since is isn't very "tropical".

We stayed in a petite suite at Treasure Island last September and were very pleased with the room, the hotel in general, and its location. We had a great view of the strip and the his and her bathrooms were an especially nice feature!
