You might want to look at Chowhound.com for some more ideas. Personally, I do not like Blossom, although I have heard it has improved. Jestine's desserts were so mediocre i would not eat dinner there, and it get's bad reviews at Chowhound. Poogan's Porch is OK for breakfast.

IMHO, your choices lean a little touristy. WHich is fine, I'm not trying to be obnoxious, but these restaurants are not the up-and-comers, just so you know.

FIG, Sienna, Al Di La, Centra, Ocean room at the Sanctuary for special -occasion...these are some other ideas.

I can't believe Jestine's gets bad reviews at Chowhound! Mr.GoTravel and I eat there at least once a month so that is shocking to me!

I will say I've never eaten dinner at Poogan's Porch, only brunch and lunch but we also eat there just as frequently.

Go Travel - Jestine's gets some good reviews too, but a lot of people call it overrated/touristy/bland/etc.

I think the most interesting dichotomy of reviews is Hominy Grill. Some people are in love, and many, like me, are just "eh, what's the big deal?"

I think I am the ONLY one who thinks the cake at Pennisula Grill is not worth the bother ;-)

Litespeed Chick, I cannot maneuver around in Chowhound and even find restaurants much less find reviews. Call me challenged. And, not to be obnoxious back, but we are tourists.

I have read lots and lots of reviews on various sites and we will definitely do Jestines for at least coca cola cake.

As I said in my original post, we don't want to have to get all gussied up. Slacks and a nice sweater for me and business casual also for the real icee. Just not gonna make the man have to wear a jacket to some stuffy atmosphere. The anniversary we are celebrating is not a significant one, it just happens to fall on the date we can go to Charleston....Well, I guess they are all significant, but it doesn't end in a 5 or a 0!!!!

Thanks for your comments and if you care to show me how to maneuver chowhound, please give me the clicks.

icee, Charleston is a really casual town. Tell Mr.icee he can leave the jacket and tie at home and will still gain entry to Charleston's finest dining establishments.

Any restaurants that required a jacket in Charleston would go out of business.

Hi mcg, I had forgotten about you doing that restaurant this summer. Not sure where we will go. We will be taking the neighbors out for a meal while we are there, so maybe that would be a good luncheon place.

The real icee always wants to head to Calabash for a fried fish fix, and we "have" to cook for Thanksgiving because the very spoiled and very adult children like their daddy's dressing!

Thanks for reminding me...I will look at their menu right now!!

The Jazz brunch at High Cotton on Sunday is the best in town. Be sure to try an espresso martini!

Loved Magnolia's. When we were there, several years ago, they had a wonderful salad with fried oysters. Best fried oysters I've had in my life and we still talk about them whenever we order fried oysters.

We were not thrilled with Poogan's Porch. It was cute, but still not thrilled overall...
