need help deciding on plays
bringing two teens to ny. which outing would you suggest between rent, blueman group, and stomp. these boys are into rap music. need something that tickets will be easily available for. we'll be there in 3 weeks. one more thing, we will be staying near the mtv studio in manhattan. the boys heard they tape shows everyday at 4:00. does anything usually happen outside in the street during the taping?

I've been to Blue Man Group and Stomp and I think both would be very entertaining for teenage boys. Blue Man Group is a very funny, bizzare show with audience particpation and fun music. But Stomp might appeal to them also because although it doesn not contain rap music, it does have a street performer feel about it, and it was amazing to see the unique ways the performers are able to create music. Both have been out for so long that it should be easy to get tickets. I have no idea about the MTV taping...

Carmen,
I've never been intrigued enough to attend an MTV taping, but I've been unfortunate enough to be walking down the street while one was going on.
If there is a big name performer on TRL, there is often a crowd outside the studios (1515 Broadway - in Times Square) hoping to get an autograph or perhaps get in a camera shot....There are barricades set up and sometimes security, but it's often a mob scene.
As for shows, I love Rent. I've never seen the Blueman group, but I've seen Stomp on tv. Ask them what they want to see - my guess is if they love rap, they'll be partial to Stomp or Blueman Group.
Have fun! I love the city.
