Need Gulf Shores/Orange Beach help

Hello,
I am getting married in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area next August. I am compiling a list of various accomodations for guests (with varying levels of prices).

For condos, I have Seachase (Orange Beach) and Beach Club (Ft. Morgan), but need another less expensive option.

Also, I am interested in recommendations for hotels (again, in different price ranges...but all clean, neat, and safe)...do you know of any?

Also, any good website for house rentals (I am thinking vrbo.com)?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Cindy

A great place that I've stayed in the past is the Seaside Beach and Tennis Resort. Check out http://webpages.charter.net/jazim123 for a great condo for rent by owner.

The Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach (used to be a Hilton) is very nice and is where we stay on "long weekend" trips away from New Orleans. Great hotel service but casual resort atmosphere. Can be expensive. Depending on when your wedding is in August the rates may drop as kids go back to school.

Dan - you took the suggestion right out of my mouth! We stayed at the Perdido Beach Resort several years ago and really liked it. We had an inside corner room and it was huge...more like a mini-suite. Unfortunately their restaurant - which was highly touted - was just average.

For house rentals try www.meyerre.com and www.kaiserrealty.com. We've rented from these two property manangement companies over the years and had good results. www.vrbo.com is good, too.

Marla's is a good suggestion. Both rental companies have websites where you can see the interior of the condos or houses you want to rent. Don't know about Kaiser, but Meyer reservations is open 24 hours a day.

For lower density properties try Four Winds, Royal Palms, Crystal Beach or Caribbean I. With the notable exception of Perdido Beach Resort, hotels down here are hit and miss. There is a nice Courtyard, but it's 4 miles north of the beach. Good group rates, though.

Here's a hotel choice that we've enjoyed in the Gulf Shores, the Best Western on the Beach:

It's a great location.
