Need advice on shopping??
Hi;
My husband and I arrived last night in Boston and we are staying on Arlington Street and will be here until Sunday morning.
We have 4 kids(Girl,22, 3 boys, 19,16, and 8yrs old) and would like to do xmas shopping for them but feel we are abit short on time.
My question: Where are the best sales and stores we should head too. I know my daughter is a big Urban Outfitters fan and the boys like anything. Where are the closest malls, outlets etc. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

It may be worth the travel time (maybe 30 minutes) to head north on Rt 93 to the Mall at Rockingham in Salem NH. NH doesn't have a sales tax. It's a very large mall plus you will find many chain stores along Rt 28.
You also have the option of Burlington MA off Rt 128 for a large mall. Or head to Nashua NH on Rt 3 for the Pheasant Lane Mall. Again, no sales tax and in an area full of strip malls and chain stores. Try the websites for your favorite stores to see if they are located in these malls.
There's an outlet mall in Wrentham MA.

Two days in Boston, staying at the end of Newbury Street, which is an international shopping mecca, and you're looking for a mall??!! Where are you from?
Anyway, you can head out from Boston in almost any direction and be at a major mall in 30 minutes, that's just the way Mall builders work. You've gotten the info on the northern options; heading south on Route 93, you'll find the enormous regional mall known as the South Shore Plaza. Two exits farther down Route 3 is a huge installation of big-box stores (Best Buy etc.) all of which are having huge sales this weekend.

I believe there is an Urban Outfitters on the End of Newbury at Massachusetts Ave. The back bay stores will be expensive but if you stroll from Arlington Street to Mass Ave. Via Newbury or Via Boylston it will give you options. The other area is Downtown Crossing, Filene's Basement and Macy's, this is about a 20 minute walk from Arlington.

My god, don't go to outside the city. You have just about everything imaginable on Newbury St. If your daughter likes Urban Outfitters she probably would like Anthropologie, which is one street over on Boylston. There's also 2 malls, Copley Place and the Prudential Center which are connected to each other.
