Woburn Area
Hi,
I am leaving tomorrow for Boston and am staying a few nights in Woburn, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good shopping mall and some other things to do. Not a massive culture vulture but I do enjoy good foods and great scenery!
Thanks in advance.

Woburn is located about 10 miles or so north of Boston. You are probably staying off the highway (Route 93. There is the Woburn Mall with a large TJ Maxx/Homegoods and a Talbot's Outlet. Nearby, in Burlington, you will find the Burlington Mall and the Crossroads Mall both with lots of very nice stores and outlets. If you have a car, you can drive north about 20 minutes and go to the Rockingham Mall in Salem, NH (tax free shopping). I don't have restaurant suggestions but there are lots of restaurants in the area. As for scnenery, it all depends on what you are looking for. I wouldn't call the area "scenic".

Scenery - it is the suburbs, surrounded by other suburbs, with Rte I93 and Rte 128/95 going thru it.
As Marianna noted, Woburn Mall in town, Burlington Mall nearby - but these are typical mall with chin stores, Burlington more upscale.
I can not even think of a restaurant to recommend in Woburn, although I have heard that there are a few acceptable places in the smallish downtown area.
Will you have a car, how far are you willing to travel, is purpose of trip to visit Boston or some other reason - that might help Boston area posters give you some more encouraging info.

Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua is also not too far away.
I don't know any restaurants in Woburn either, but there are a couple nice ones in nearby Burlingon. There is a Capitol Grill (steakhouse), and the upscale Italian L'Andana which has gotten good reviews.
There are some marvelous ethnic restaurants in Lowell if you have a car. There are some interesting things to do, like visiting the textile museum and then lunch at the Southeast Asian restaurant.
will you have time for a road trip for scenery? since you start out north of Bostn, you really aren't too far from the North shore, places like Rockport and Marblehead. You can get some nice coastal scenery there if you choose.

Hello Again,
Thank you for your replies, I am actually going for business and the Company I work for have me booked into the Hilton there.
I am only there 3 days however I think I will get a car. Doesn't Boston have good chowder?!
I really need to find a saks or nordstrom i'm sure they will be easy to find!
Thanks again, very grateful.

There are only two Nordstrom's in all of Massachusetts; One's at the Burlington Mall just a few miles from Woburn and the other is at the "Natick Collection" which is a revitalized older mall with very upscale stores.
The only Saks is in Boston in the Back Bay, but there's an "Off Fifth" store at the outlet mall in Wrentham.
