I am looking for a place to take some clients to lunch. We always go to Keen's steakhouse (their office is in that area). However, I would like to try something new, but am having difficulty finding anything upscale/Keenslike in that area.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you sure you're saying that right? Nick and Stef's (a good choice) is at 33rd between 7th and 8th. Keens is actually on 36th between 5th and 6th.

The two best places I can think of fairly near to Keen's are Asia de Cuba and Artisanal, but I'm not so sure that's the atmosphere you're looking for.

I took a client to lunch at the Tupelo Grill, right across the street from Nick and Stef's. The food was good, and fine for a business lunch.

I suggest Tupelo as well. Great martinis, if it's that type of lunch.

Uncle Jack's steakhouse just opened on 34th/8th, supposed to be wonderful.

How about Asia de Cuba if you are into something a little funky. There is a brand new place called Barbers on 36/Mad and 5th that looks good!

Metro Fish on 36th between 5th and Madison is pretty good - and quiet. Huge portions . . . stick to the simple grilled items. Very fresh fish.

I have taken clients to lunch at Asia de Cuba several times and they always love it. but it depends on who you're taking - they're from out of town and appreciate something New Yorky they can;t get at home. Also, none of us is interested in huge chunks of meat - several are close to vegetarian.

Nick and Stef's is a lot better than Keen's. Tupelo grill is good, but nothing special in my opinion.
