Near Bowie MD

I need a hotel near Bowie MD as I am house hunting in that area. Any suggestions for a hotel in a safe area while I house hunt in Bowie-Crofton area? Please advise.

There are several in Annapolis convenient to route 50. Check internet for stuff on Riva Road, Harry Truman Blvd., Admiral Cochran Dr., Parole area. Plus you could then go to down town Annapolis at night!
If you want to shop, there's something near the Annapolis Mall-off Jennifer Road-sorry don't know name as it keeps changing!
Crofton has nice reputation as place to live btw. Good luck with your search.

There is a Comfort Inn right in Bowie on Rt 301.

If you come a little farther to Annapolis to exit 22 you'll find Extended Stay, Days Inn, Best Western, Radisson, Residence Inn and Hampton Inn within a 1 mile square.

I find the Annapolis area to be quite safe and the Crofton area also.

Bowie, crofton, and Annapolis are all great areas to live in. I live in Annapolis.

A second vote for the Comfort Inn- its located at the intersection of Rt 50 and Rt 301, and I think it has dining on-site. There is also a TownePlace Suites (Marriott) located near Bowie Town Center (the outdoor shopping mall) for good eats.

Not sure that staying in Annapolis would be worth the drive unless you were going to select a hotel in the historic district.

Crofton and Bowie are essentially the same town, separated by the PG/Anne Arundel county line. (but that line means different local governments. politics, tax rates and school systems). Good luck!

I'd stay at either the Riva Radisson or the Riva Best Western. Riva is fifteen minutes east of Bowie, on the outskirts of Annapolis.

For a little additional advice, when choosing your house, make sure it is located in Anne Arundel County rather than Prince George's County. This is especially true if you have children as Prince George's County schools are worse than lousy. Furthermore, home values are rising much faster in Anne Arundel than in Prince George's. Crime and taxes are also higher in Prince George's County than in Anne Arundel County.

I'm a little south of Annapolis and don't go to the 301/50 area very often so didnt' even think about that-sorry! The hotels there would be closer to Bowie for sure. Lots of shopping and dining in that area also-don't know what things are in walking distance though. Good luck!

I don't think I explained myself too well on my previous post. Bowie is a very nice area and has many upper neighborhoods. Depending on your budget you could do well in one of the original homes in Bowie (or Belair as it was called) and they are very, very roomy. Great colonials and ramblers that need to be sited on corner lots because of their size. Prince Georges school need a tweak cause they really are not quite up to Anne Arundel schools (sorry if I offend anyone but I've used both school systems).

You can get a pretty good idea of the homes and prices by going to Realtor.com and clicking to Bowie MD, and then Crofton MD and on to Annapolis MD. There is one area inbetween, davidsonville, but that is mega bucks.

Crofton has a lot going for it - if there's children there's many activities for them and for adults too. Some of the nice communities are Walden (by the golf course), Chapman Farms, and the original Crofton which winds around a golf course and is pretty special.

The motel area I referred to at Exit 22 is just two exits past Bowie on Route 50 and quite accessible.

If we can help - let us know.
