NC Mountains

We have never been to this area and need suggestions on a mountain cabin to rent for 2 adults. Would stay a couple weeks next summer to get out of the Florida humidity! Thanks in advance.

I've had good success with www.rentourcabins.com for the Boone/Blowing Rock area.

Check out http://www.blowingrockcondo.com for a convenient downtown rental. Just a short walk to the shops and restaurants on Main Street in Blowing Rock.

I understand fully the need to escape from Florida in the summer.
Check out http://www.nvnc.com/
We rented a cabin years ago and had a blast, white-water rafting,
trout fishing, etc. It is so beautiful in this area, you can just sit next to the Nantahala
River and feel the cool air rising
up. I went to college on Boone,N.C.
and prefer this area to vacation.
Have fun Genie

Here's an idea for something a little different...rent an RV...it can be your cabin-on-wheels in Asheville one night...then in Cherokee...and then in Fontana and so forth.

Take a look at www.lightninrv.com and then click on "Rentals" in the menu on the left to view our Rental Program, that can turn a normal trip into an adventure.

Also, take a look at our "Special Events Calendar" and our "Travel Links" for a lot a great list of things to see/do in that area. But, don't look at the Events Calendar just for the time period you're going, as the places listed are great just about all year long. You might also get some good ideas on things to do/see on the way up or back.

Now, Mr BWBlakely, you are being disingenuous, to say nothing of doing commercial advertising on a noncommercial site.

Everyone who has ever lived in or near the mountains knows the smell of hot brakes on Florida and Ohio cars! They are terrified of any road that isn't dead flat and dead straight. Put 'em in an RV, and you will need a dental surgeon at the other end of the trip to unclamp the teeth they have ground down on those mountain roads!

Uh, WendyNC, are you advertising your own place? That's a no-no.
