Naples Ritz Carlton

We are planning a trip here in December. Is a car necessary, or are most things easily accessible by short cab ride or walking? Thank you in advance.

There's not much to walk to. It is a resort hotel and is meant to keep you there, frankly. It is about a 20 minute drive to the center of Naples where the "trendy" and "hot" restaurants are. But a taxi is a possibility. There aren't many of them in Naples, but you can get one from the Ritz.

I can't think of anything within walking distance of the Ritz. If you plan on staying at the Ritz most of the time, use a cab on the few occasions you will venture out. If you plan on going out and about every day, rent a car.

I took a cab from the Hotel Escalante (downtown Naples) to the Ritz Carlton. It was about a 25.00 cab ride not including the tip.

Yes, Ferragamo, taxis are outrageously expensive in Naples.
But car rentals are available for around $30 or even less per day.

Another walk-to place from the Ritz --- the very casual and small Buzz's Lighthouse on the Bay side for great Grouper Rueben Sandwiches. I just had one there Sunday!!

After your warning Patrick about "cocktails". I considered that an inexpensive way to enjoy good Champagne watching the beautiful sunset over the ocean at the Ritz outdoor bar. That is one thing in Naples not to miss.
