N.O.- Brennans vs. Commanders

Hi:
My family and are going to NOLA late August... I have been searching in the threads and decided I do want to have brunch at Brennans or Commanders (I guess which ever available). Still undecided but can any of y'all tell me what you had (ate) that you like so much? I don't believe I've ever been out for brunch! Please enlighten me.
Thanx

One of my favorite meals was at the Commanders Palace. I didn't eat there at brunch but I've heard good things about the jazz brunch. I've only eaten at Brennans for breakfast and I thought it overpriced. Everything at CP was good but the thing that I remember most was the bread pudding souffle with whisky sauce. My vote would be for Commander's Palace.

We found the food at Brennan's very good, but outrageously priced. At those prices, you wouldn't expect chipped dinerware (as opposed to fine chine dinnerware).

Brennan's is still resting on its laurels from decades ago when the "Breakfast at Brennan's" movie was popular. Unfortunately the brunch has pretty much become a tourist trap: the food is outrageously priced and the flavor isn't anything special.

In my opinion, Commander's Palace deserves its reputation as one of the top restaurants in the country. The service is wonderful and so is the food. You can look up their brunch menu online, though I frequently get one of the daily specials.

Another vote for Commanders- I didn't have brunch there but my dinner was fantastic, with great service and good prices. I checked out Brennan's but it looked sort of old and it was really pricey.

Most definitely have brunch at Commander's Palace. I've enjoyed the jazz brunch on Sunday with many friends, relatives and business associates over the past several years; the experience has never failed to delight everyone in our party. CP is truly one of the finest restaurants in the USA. My wife and I had the pleasure of dining in their new outpost in Las Vegas this past February, and that place was as fine as the original place in New Orleans.

both restaurants are Brennan family but night and day when it comes to quality. Brennan's has an enviable location in the French Quarter and a great building but the food has declined over the years. If you do go I'd recommend doing the tourist thing with the Absinthe punch and Eggs Sardou.

I'd much rather go to Commanders. All the classic New Orleans breakfast dishes here but better prepared and the jazz brunch is just the best. The garden district is lovely and it is great to stroll around the area. Some interesting shops as well, not a chain store in sight. LMF

Another vote for Commanders Palace. Brennans is almost completely for tourists. Believe me I dont think theres a dish on their menu including Bananas Foster that hasn't been replicated ten times over in this town.

Went for Saturday Jazz Bruch @ Commander's Palace. Wonderful experience, great service, good food!
Strongly recommend it!
Sunday Brunch @ Brennan's was very very disappointing! Really bad service, shorthanded and inexperienced waiters. I was really looking foward to eating their famous banana fosters, and they were not that good as the other NOLA restaurants. The food overall was very disappointing, cold not served on time, lumps, very sad. Do not recommend it at all.

Commander's Palace was just awful. We had a wonderful week in New Orleans and CP was the low point of our trip.
They didnt honor what they told me when I reserved months earlier in where they would seat us. We sat at the top of the steps while waiters talked about what they did that weekend. There was NO music. By the time they came to our table 45 min. later, we had already finhished and were ready to leave. The food was not the greatest either. We will NEVER go back again.
