Mystic, CT with kids
Hi All - I'm going in August to Mystic, CT with my 6 and 3 year old children. Aside from the Seaport, Aquarium and Mystic Village, are there other places that you can recommend, or things to do, that would be enjoyable for families? Boat rides, museums, amusement parks, etc. Also, any recommendations for family-friendly restaurants in the Mystic area would be great. Thanks!

About a 45 minute drive away, there is a train / Steamboat ride in Essex that is a lot of fun. I would combine that with a trip to Gillette Castle (great viewpoint above the river)
Closer to Mystic, you have New London Ocean Park (pool, mini golf, small amusement park) (http://ocean-beach-park.com/). I haven't been there myself but have heard good things about it.

The Sea Swirl for seafood, burgers, ice cream.
Somewhere in Time or Kitchen Little for breakfasts.
Abbott's on the water in Noank for lobster rolls, crab cakes, clam chowder (grilled cheese or tuna sands for the kiddies).
Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has short walks, owls, a duck pond, exhibits, kid's activities etc. www.dpnc.org
