MYRTLE BEACH AREA
Can someone give me some info on Sands Resorts in Myrtle Beach. Which is best one, best location, etc.. I'm currently booked at Kingston Plantation for last week of August but I'm considering moving to a Sands resort. Any info would be great. Thanks

Janine,
you are currently booked in what many think is the best resort in the MB area. But if you decide to change to the Sands, I would say that the ones in or around 74th Avenue (the addresses would read something like 7400 or 7500 North Ocean Blvd) might be the best Sands locations.
Bottom line, though, why are you considering dumping KP? Also, there are many posts giving good MB info--just do a search using *myrtle*
I'll be happy to try to answer any specific questions you have.

Well I'm not sure why. I guess because I've never been there. We are traveling two families. 4 adults 4 kids. Kids ages are 5-10. I've read that the waterplayground might be a bit small at KP and that there is also one at the Sands Ocean Dunes Resort 75th Ave North. Also thinking that it might be closer to area activities for kids. However, I want beach to be not so congested.
The men are golfers so that is a consideration too.
Is KP so far away from everything that we will have to keep traveling to get to places. We are booked in a 3Bedroom Suite at Brighton Tower. I think it's something like 2200 sq feet with the balcony.
Help!

janinelouie....the kids, and the golfers and the shoppers will love Myrtle. As with the others, I would keep the reservation at Kingston Plantation. Lucky for you, a lot of schools will already be back in session so you shouldn't have a congestion problem on the beach. The beaches in that area are so wide, you wouldn't have a problem anyway!
As for rudeness, we are approaching a full moon on the 31st of July and this particular month, rudeness just seems to be the norm. I had a guy yesterday be rude to me for absolutely no reason. He just better remember when it's not a full moon and not ask me for any favors......cause it ain't gonna happen.
Take the kids to Alligator Adventure. You get 2 days for one admission price, so don't wait until the end of your vacation to go.
Have fun....Myrtle is a great family vacation spot.

LOL Thanks for your reply. Without getting everyone crazy ( i tend to overdue it when choosing accomodations. My little one is autistic and he needs to be in the place where he will have the most fun) does KP have an indoor pool just in case the weather does not cooperate for me.

Nah, don't worry. GoTravel jumped on me last week and I wondered why...until someone else complained about the same thing a couple of days later. It's not you.
It sounds like you've chosen a good location. Why don't you call the hotel directly to ask specific questions to have your concerns addressed?
I hope you and your family have a great visit!

janine,
KP and the Sands at 75th Ave are probably less than 5 miles apart, so no real difference in proximity to attractions. In fact, KP is closer to Barefoot Landing (in North Myrtle Beach), where Alligator Adventure is located. And I second Alligator Adventure--it's great.
And iceeu2 is correct, the crowds really thin out beginning in the middle of August. From KP you'll have easy access to the Pavilion (heart of MB, straight down Business 17, a/k/a Kings Highway, bear left at the 17 Business/17 Bypass fork) and Broadway at the Beach (bear right at the fork to take 17 Bypass--the terrible signage will say Georgetown/Conway, it's ok). Both will offer lots to do for kids (and adults). Nascar Speedpark (variety of go-karts) is right across the highway from Broadway at the Beach.
Oh, one other thing. Your kids might enjoy walking on the Apache Pier near KP; it's billed as the longest pier on the east coast. I think there's a small fee (maybe 50 cents or a dollar).
I don't think you can go wrong at KP.
