Eye yi yi. I agree, can we all calm down?
First of all, I want to thank those of you who realized that this was supposed to be tongue in cheek! When I first read the replies to this, I was aghast - I couldn't believe there could be so many people who read so much into what I said. I am so glad many of you realized I was trying to be funny.
Sunnydelite, scarlett, et al., please re-read the initial post. No, wait, I'll highight some parts, and I'm quoting, "To each his own", "I know travel is subjective". Let's see, there's nowhere where I mention simple minded people...no mention of blue collar peasants...No place in my initial posts or follow up posts where I criticize the people who go to the places I'm not impressed with!
May I cautiously suggest that those of who love Las Vegas so much that they cannot bear to hear anything negative about it, that maybe - you should stop reading this thread? It may save you a ton of aggravation. And do we need to nit pick everything anybody says? For the 60th time, can we all agree that everyone likes different things, and everyone is entitled to their opinion? I find it helpful to know people's likes/dislikes. For example, can you all guess how I feel about Atlantic City? And sunnydelite, if you truly felt that Bryce was boring, then your opinion on the other national parks in the area may not be as helpful to ME than others' who have been to Bryce and thought it worthwhile. Aren't we all here to make our own vacations better and to help others do the same? That's what attracted me to this board. There's a lot of knowledge around here.
Here's one more think I don't get: the mentality of, well, if you don't like (blank), then tell me that you like so I can trash it? To those of you who reacted to what you thought I was saying: If what I said was so horribly awful, why would you turn around and do the exact same thing? Why lower yourself to your perceived level of me?
The the person who lives in Las Vegas: we are happy you love to live there. I personally do not live in my favorite vacation destination. (That's what we originally started talking about, isn't it?) I would suspect that 99% of us don't, or how would you explain the population of North Dakota, Detroit or Philadelphia (the city I live outside of?) If you want to trash Philadelphia, you may be my guest. I can help you with things I'm not thrilled with. Be happy there are people who do not like Las Vegas - do want that many new neighbors?

OK karens, I read your post again, to see what I missed.
I didn't miss anything.
I responded to your "hating" a vacation destination.
I commented on your disdainful remark about the man commenting on the Red Rocks.
I wondered where you vacation.
I think if you post a thread trashing popular vacation destinations on a travel thread, you should expect people to react. And not all in agreement with your somewhat narrowminded opinions.
What was the point of the thread?
You were perhaps hoping someone would help you "get it"?
