Since you already have a reservation, it would help us if you'd explain how you hope to improve on it.

I agree - I'm not sure what you're asking. If it's info on the hotel I've not famiiar with it - but assume you've checked it out on Tripadvisor.com. It generally has the mixed reviews that this type of superbudget hotel gets.

(Some people are surprised the rooms are barely bigger than the bed! Others are enthusiastic that the room is cleaned every day!) My deal breaker would be the fact that it doesn;t hae an elevator - I'm not dragging any luggage up four flights of stairs myself.

But for that location anything that price in December is a miracle.

So - are you asking is it a good choice? that depends on what you want. Are you asking fo rother options - not at that price point!

Please clarify.

Sorry about the confusion......I am "holding" a reservation at the Murray Hill Inn for December. I am interested in the area of "Murray Hill". If anyone has suggestions for other hotels in the area I would appreciate info. In the past several years I've stayed at the Pickwick Arms Hotel on East 51st and 2nd Ave. I want to experience Midtown South. Thanks!

I understood the original question perfectly -- as far as it went. WHY are you still looking -- what is it about the MH Inn that fails to meet your idea of the ideal hotel/room? Are you looking for a place that's nice, cheaper, bigger, closer to something, has a better reputation or larger rooms or a kitchenette? We can't make suggestions without knowing your expectaiotns and preferences. So far, all you've given us is a neighborhood and a month.

I hate to break it to you - but there is no such thing as "Midtown South" - except as a police precinct. That's just an area made up by the hotel search sites.

If you want Murray Hill at that price I can;t image there are any opther options. If you;re looking for something else - you need to say what.

Dear Anonymous:
I am still looking because I saw mixed reviews on the Trip Advisor...."great location", " bed bugs", "no elevator".....See my concerns....
I want a nice clean room.

OK, I guess we're getting someplace, Nice, clean room with no bugs. Gee, those criteria wouldn't have occurred to me.

Do you require an elevator, or not?

Do you have a price range?

Rates fluctuate dramatically depending on WHEN in December. It will be hard to find anything great at anywhere near that price up to Xmas. From the 26th-30th there are often deals.

If you're flexible and are only 1 or 2 you could give Priceline a try. Other hotels in that area that get decent reviews are
Murray Hill East Suites
Shelburne Murray Hill
Avalon
Eastgate Towers

The Bedford is sometimes a good deal but gets mixed reviews.

You might want to try an apartment. Look into the website
citylightsnewyork.com

You might also look on newyork.craigslist.com if you're talking about during the holidays. Many NYers go away and might be interested in renting their apt while they're gone. You could also run your own ad there.

Btw, this is not a hopping area of town. Why do you want to stay there?

For more info on hotels go to www.hotels.com and put in your dates of travel. It will give you lots of hotels in the city and you will get the rates so you have an idea of the going rates when you are traveling.

Good luck.
