Martinique or Red Roof Inn?

We've narrowed down our hotel search to either the Martinique Holiday Inn or the Red Roof Inn. They are the same price - $130. They are both in the same location. So, which is best? Which would you stay at?

Also, just to be safe - are these actually any better than the HoJo Plaza on 8th? Its a little cheaper at HoJo, so if we are getting the same quality, we may as well stay at the HoJo. Lastly, the cheapest rate we can find for the Belvedere(our first choice) is $155. I've read $115 thrown around, are we missing an offer?

Thanks for your input,
Ian

Ian, when are your going to NYC? Depending on your date of travel, you will most likely be able to find a nicer hotel for the same amount or, even less money. Have you looked at quickbook.com? I was looking at that site for an upcoming trip and saw the West Park for $109 (or 106, can't remember) the Marcel for $115, and the for $105 and the Bentley for $125 (maybe this property is a little "out of the way" - but it is very nice). Also, is Priceline an option for you? If it is, you might want to look at biddingfortravel.com to get an idea of what hotels have been awarded each area of NYC.

We're doing a mid-March trip. It will be mostly Time Square based.
There is four of us, so that often has to be factored into the cost of the hotel room. Also, because we NEED a quad room, priceline.com is not an option.

My partner's company uses this hotel when people come to NYC for business. He says the rooms are fine; clean and decent. He would have no problems staying there, and would recommend it.
My opinion is that it would be better than the HoJo on 8th Ave. I'm assuming you can cancel your reservation at Hojo's without penalty. If, there is a cancellation fee, you need to fator that in the differnce in hotel rates. I would say that the Martinique is more centrally located than HoJo's, especially for tourists.

Anthony - Which hotel are you referring to? I don't see it in your post.

Rob - Location is't really a factor being that 32nd street is not too far of a walk anyway.

Well, we're going to make our reservation tomorrow. Sorry to bump, but is there any last advice?
