NYC hotel for tomorrow?!
OK- i was going to use priceline for a trip to NYC and her 12 y o. I have scared myself out of using it.
I didnt want luxury for sure but she knows her daughter would love some place a little bit different than the ordinary (she liked the looks of the Modern?)
I have looked and look and found some places for like 100 bucks but only for a double.
Any one know of some place thats cheap tomorrow night.
Near theater disctrict or Maybe Soho or Greenich village??
Help- i have no idea what I am doing.
209.including tax for the swisshotel? More than I wanna pay but a good value?
Someone please help

crosbie, 12 year old girls need some privacy. Cheap in SoHo (under $150) will be small and cramped. When a hotel in NYC says double, you can count on either two twin beds or one double bed.
I would look into the Embassy downtown or one of the chain hotels like Holiday Inn, Marriotts, Hyatts etc. Make sure you let the reservations people know you have three people.

Your best prices will be had thru Priceline. Last year I was in NYC in mid-August, paying $102 (total w/taxes) @ Sheraton. Since you've never used Priceline, you should read up before bidding on www.betterbidding.com and another website (sorry I'm having a memory lapse here).
BUT . . . as you're hesitant to roll the dice with Priceline, then I'd suggest you browse thru www.hotels.com and www.quikbook.com. Both of these sites offer reasonable prices. I'd also check several of the chain hotel websites as they may have deals during this time of year.

Doubletree Suites is in Times Square. With a 12 y-o I think you might want some privacy that a suites hotel would provide. NYC hotel rooms tend to the small side. You probably won't want to try Priceline as they can't guarantee 2 beds and you could get stuck with 1 bed for 3 people. I've heard it's difficult to find 2-bedded rooms in Manhattan.

Definitely don't bid for just 1 room on PL.
Try calling Murray Hill East Suites. We got a nice 1-bedroom suite with full kitchen for $135 last month. Sofabed in the huge well-furnished livingroom. There was just one TV, but a cable in both rooms so choose who gets the TV!
