Where to stay in NYC??

We're are looking for a family trip Dec 25th-28th. There will be six of us and we're going to need two rooms. We're looking for a central location. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

What is your price range? Midtown east or Midtown west are central areas to most of the main attractions. You may want to look at quikbook.com or priceline.com under those two areas. Midtown east would be my first choice, although both are convenient locations. If you decide to use priceline, check out biddingfortravel.com first to get an idea of the types of hotels that people have been getting under the different star levels.

This group of hotels have larger accomodations that offer a lot of amenities.

We just got back this weekend. We stayed at the Dumont Plaza at 150 E34th Street. Great location - close to subway - only one stop from 42nd Street. The rooms are all suites so you have fridge, stove. The people that work there are super friendly. The Barking Dog Restaurant was right there at the hotel and had a good brkfast. Our rooms were $289 which was the best price we could find for Dec. We were not disappointed.

On a budget- look at Hojo, Days Inn, Super 8, Red Roof. I guess I am especially lucky- I got Hojo for $104 12-27- 30. I've stayed there many times and was always satisified with the clean large rooms.

The Gorham Hotel. 55th between 6th and 7th. $235 (Which is about $75 more than their normal rates) but still a good deal for that time of year.

If you are on a budget look into the Comfort Inn Midtown.

The Belvedere has kitchenettes and good rates with some adjoining rooms I believe. I liked the location. The lobby looks beautiful. I get email from them all the time as I intended to stay there on my last visit but courageously went the priceline way of things. (and did ok at that)
Good luck and enjoy.
